“Eddie? Are you-are you there?”
Fuck, did he really sound that bad? His voice sounded raw, and now that he thought about it he wasn’t sure when the last time he’d actually spoken to someone was. Sunday at work? Or Saturday with the kids? He honestly couldn’t even remember what day it was.
“Well, well. I dreamt of the day King Steve would call lil’ ol’ me,” Eddies voice said, carrying through the walkie with only a little static. “What’s up, big boy?”
Steve’s stomach fluttered with the nickname—the same name Eddie had called him in that RV, his face so close that Steve could feel his breath across his cheeks. Normally he’d welcome the feeling, but it only served to remind him how empty his stomach was.
“Uh- I need,” he paused, swallowing around the lump in his throat. “Are you busy?”
“For you, sweetheart? Never.”
“Can you come over?” Steve rushed to get out, knowing his cheeks would be burning red if he wasn’t struggling to simply remember how to breathe. “I-I need help. Fuck, I need a lot of help.”

Summary
Before the Russians and the Mind Flayer, and before Dustin Henderson returned from Camp Know Where, Steve Harrington was just a guy working at a mall. A guy with no prospects, romantic or otherwise. He sold mediocre ice cream at the Scoops Ahoy, and sometimes, he spent his off days, like everyone else in Hawkins, at the public pool. Enjoy some snippets from the beginning of Steve's 1985 summer as he strikes out with girls, gets bullied by Robin, picks fights with Billy, and finds himself strangely drawn to the weird metalhead who works at the Sam Goody across from him at the mall.
Spoiler alert: Steve Harrington's bisexuality crisis began way before season 4.Takes place between seasons 2 & 3, mostly fluff, mostly canon-compliant.

Summary
