Summary
Louis had always felt he was different, but he had never understood why.
At least until one particular event devasted him, turning his life upside down forever and bringing to the surface a past he didn't know, a present he thought he knew, and a series of unexpected events that will trigger the beginning of a future he's not sure he wants to live.

“You don't have permission to be here, let alone to look at confidential files,” he said, roughly snatching the file he still had in his hands and abruptly closing it, then doing the same with the others still open on the desk.
“I work here,” Louis snapped indignantly, standing up and facing him.
“Are you a cop? Show me your badge or permission,” the detective retorted impassively, raising an eyebrow.
“What? Look, mate, you just got here, so I forgive you for not knowing, but-”
“Mate?” the detective retorted, sliding a hand to touch the badge as if to emphasize his position. “Show me the permit or I'll arrest you.”
Louis gaped at him, because what alternate universe had he just been thrown into? He wasn't just threatening, he really was going to arrest him.
Louis hated him.

Summary
Louis hates the fact he was held back a grade in his youth, but he knows if it was not for being held back he never would have met Niall, Zayn, most importantly Harry, and perhaps Liam. This coming of age story follows five friends (or more than friends) who try to figure out their place in the world while also attempting to hold on to each other. Growing older brings to the surface insecurities, surging hormones, figuring out who they are in regards to new identities, group drama, past trauma, secret plans, and a lot of emotions. But at the end of the day, they always find their ways back to each other.
But to sum it all up: the one where Louis is oblivious, specifically to his own feelings; Harry is a little scarred and secretly possessive; Zayn is a wallflower who will do anything for his 'family'; Niall falls for the last person he would ever expect to; and Liam is kind of an ass, but the boys love him anyways.
*There is a formulated soundtrack to this story. Every chapter title is the title to a song, so altogether the titles add up to a soundtrack.

Summary
“I’ll be really good to you,” Liam whispers, sliding an arm under Zayn’s shoulder like he is a pillow. Zayn closes his eyes, remembering when Liam had said those same words to him while laying on his chest before they started dating. The same feeling rattles in his chest, the same uncertainty, the same need for his words to remain true.
“I know,” Zayn whispers, massaging his fingers through Liam’s hair. “You always have.”
Liam pushes up, brows furrowing together as he stares down at him, the humor in his face turning far more serious. “And I always will, Zayn.”
