From now on, she would avoid eye contact with everyone; she couldn't afford to be seen as vulnerable. More importantly, Fleur vowed to avoid that brunette among the sea of red and gold. Fleur kept her vow for her entire year at Hogwarts, and three years passed until she saw the brunette again. She wasn’t equipped for it, and while it should have been expected, it was disarming. Hermione Granger had the remarkable talent of seeing through her. Fleur both resented and appreciated her for it.

*Currently on writing hiatus. As of 12/24/2024, 4k out of 100k words written. Sooo...this isn't the Christmas present/update I wanted to give you. Due to family life, unexpected happenstance and the general exhaustion of politics in 2024, I didn't write nearly as much as I usually do. Not even my own stuff. I do apologize for that.
With that, I still plan to finish this thing. I still plan to write the 100k words and I believe there's no reason I can't finish that in 2025. It will just be much later in 2025 than I was hoping. Again, my apologies. Have a good holiday if you can, everyone. See you for a later update. Hopefully with a much higher word count.

“You’re allowed to be sad,” Octavia repeats herself. She watches as Raven’s eyes land on the necklace she’s hung up, and she sees the pain in the girl’s face. “You can’t just keep hiding from it, Raven.”
“Yeah?” Raven’s voice is cold again and she narrows her eyes. “And how would you know? You haven’t even been here.”
Octavia continues to take it, knowing the verbal blows are well deserved. She feels infinitely small in that moment. In finding a problem that she can’t fix on her own, she feels powerless. All she can do is shrug, clasp her hands together, and look down at the ground. “Doesn’t mean I stopped caring.”
