Summary
Harry is suspended in the summer before fifth year. Grimmauld Place may seem an unlikely refuge, with an erratic lord and a malicious house elf and a tendency to change when night falls. But a year away from Hogwarts offers opportunities, and Harry begins to learn what it means to be a ward of the House of Black.
'Magical families deal with the dead differently. The Potters bury theirs which is more of a statement than you’d think. It says ‘our kin are safe in the ground, we trust they will not rise’ - words your grandfather once said to me by the way, not something I just made up for dramatics. Other families don’t have such confidence.' - Sirius Black
