“Don’t play dumb, Aetos,” she snaps, and I lift my eyebrows. I’ve been Dain to her for weeks now outside of bed, not Aetos or Wingleader. She must really be feeling out of sorts to resort to defensive patterns, to creating distance between us.
“Don’t snap at me, Sloane,” I request evenly. “Tell me what’s wrong, instead. Why don’t you want to touch me?”
She stands on the far side of the room, her hands clenched into fists, like she can somehow limit the damage they can do by keeping them closed.
“I didn’t say I didn’t want to!” she spits. “I said I shouldn’t.”

Summary
Lady Sloane Mairi never entered the Quadrant or bonded a dragon.
