Summary
This is my entry to EFA Fic Challenge 2021. This year's prompt is "Mask". This story is inspired by Season 4 episode 8 “Hell Raisin’ Good Time”, when the Earp sisters recall Wynonna stealing Ward’s overalls to make a scarecrow costume for Waverly. So, almost canon compliant, except I couldn’t help writing a WayHaught meet cute on this Halloween night. Gosh, I love to write them all as kids!

“So tell me, what’s your name, and what costume is this?” She questioned.
“I’m Waverly Earp, and I’m a scarecrow!” She pulled at her coat’s sleeve to show the straw. “What, you’ve never seen a scarecrow before, Nicole?” Of course. A scarecrow. Nicole bit the inside of her cheek.
“Well, I’m from the Big City, you know. Can’t say we see too much of them there.”
“Oh, I see.” The little girl acquiesced, seemingly satisfied with the answer. She took Nicole’s hand back, and guided her towards a front yard well-decorated with carved pumpkins and faked tombstones. Surely, the candies would be great there.

*************“What?” asked Waverly.
“Nothing. I’m still having a hard time believing I’m on a date with you, is all.”
“Why’s that? We’ve been talking about it for a couple weeks now!”
“I don’t know, maybe because you’re amazing, and I’m just… me, Nicole Haught, a girl who lives in a trailer.”
*************Nicole and Waverly have been texting and calling each other every day since the redhead broke Champ’s nose. As much as their bond is growing fast, two weeks have passed, and they haven’t had the time to be on a real date yet. Until now.
