Summary
It's the year 2038, overpopulation has become a worldwide epidemic. Thus, the brutal act was announced. The community is separated into groups, and only one family is allowed to give birth in the section every month. Any other births are to be terminated, the Offborns. The act went on for 30 years, and no one really remembers that life. Clementine remembers her birth, October 2022. Hence her number becoming child 011022. She lived a normal life in sector 1, alongside her best friend, family, living the normal life. But when she watches and Offborn be chased by ALPHA, she's suddenly compelled to help them. After saving the Offborn, she's shown his world, and is shocked at what she finds. No longer able to tolerate the Offborn policy, she fights with the revolution. Between the ALPHA hunting them all, and having to fight those she called family, her life will be thrown out of balance.

Grabbing his gun, Joel turned down the alleyway, keeping his eyes peeled for any possible sign of fungus growing up the nearby walls, but luckily there was no sign of it. Continuing down through the dark alleyway, Joel paused as a strike of lightning lit up the alleyway for a split moment and he spotted something crouched down in the corner at the end of the alleyway. The figure made his heart leap in his chest and he pointed his gun right at it, almost pulling the trigger. But something inside stopped him. As another flash of lightning lit up the sky, the figure was illuminated, revealing it to be a small child. A little girl no older than four
TLDR: Joel finds Ellie all alone in the rain and decides to take her in for a bit before he can return her to the fireflies, but the more he gets to know about her, the more he’s concerned about what exactly the fireflies were doing with her

Tucked away inside Ellie’s backpack was something special to her. Much more precious than any savage starlight comic or joke book. It was by far the most important thing she has. And that thing was a stuffed giraffe that she had had for as long as she could remember. She always kept it tucked away safely inside her backpack and took it with her everywhere she went. She would never let anyone see that she still had it with her, afraid she would be made fun of or be berated for carrying around such a childish thing. So she kept it hidden away from anyone who could, especially her new found traveling buddy, Joel
TLDR: Ellie has this stuffed giraffe she carries with her everywhere, so when the toy gets destroyed, she’s upset but tries to hide it

But when he comes across an abandoned infant in a spore filled apartment building who seems to not being affected by the spores at all, he reluctantly takes her in to take care of her
