That was weird. They were the same age, they should have been classmates at the Academy. Unless... his teammates weren't his teammates, more like bodyguards. But why? Your plan is to keep this up and, four years down the road, leave with a certain Straw Hat Pirate crew that is scheduled to make an appearance during a large-scale raid!

Luffy's eyebrows knotted together in concentration. He kept silent like this for almost a minute before his expression brightened up again. "Nope!"
Shanks gave the child a sappy smile and nodded sagely. "Of course, you wouldn't know what went through the head of those stinky barbarians." Privately he wondered if another smile like that would be enough to kill him.
Luffy laughed brightly. "You're weird."
Seems like he'd find out sooner than later.
