Of all the things Ilya could have guessed David Hollander would say, that was not one of them. Maybe “Sorry for accidentally interrupting a beautiful moment with your boyfriend and then immediately leaving. That was probably stressful.” Or the opposite end, “Why do you think you're worthy of my perfect son after publicly whoring around for years?”
Both scenarios were unlikely, he knew, but the chicken parmesan really came out of nowhere. Ilya cleared his throat and tried not to fidget with his crucifix. “Is good.”

And then there are friends and family everywhere, and emotionally charged salads and its all a little too much. Good thing Shane is practiced at soothing out the too muchness.
tl;dr Christmasy smut. Vague spoilers for The Long Game. Don't come for me if I messed up some Long Game details - it was lowkey devastating and I have yet to gear up for a reread.

Cliff ignores it, staring past Pike’s shoulder. “Fucking Christ, fucking—are they—”

“You don’t know shit,” Pike says savagely, physically putting himself between Cliff and the space Hollander used to be. “Shut your fucking mouth, you don’t know anything.”]
