Summary
Instead of heading right home the day he and his mother are attacked, David leaves the hospital and walks outside the city. It's a place he likes to visit because of how big and close the stars look while he's there. The environment gives him a chance to relax, but it also makes him reflect on how bleak everything looks. With his mom gone, his chances of being able to live a happy life are significantly bleaker than they were before.
But that changes when a star seems to get closer and closer to the earth.
When something crashes on the earth, David is the closest person to the site. And rather than leave it be, David decides to go closer and check it out. And what he finds is a big metal bug-looking thing. It's a device.
One that crawls and attaches itself to David when he gets too close. And once David is covered in the armor of the Scarab, his destiny changes forever.
