Summary
On the outskirts of Seikyuu City lies the remote Yakou-un Meteorological Observatory. Rumors run rampant about the lone alpha who lives there and has been running the place for over a decade. Hizashi knows he should stop taunting fate (and his own heart) by flirting with a bonded and blood-thirsty alpha, but when the truth about the past puts that same alpha in trouble in the present, Hizashi doesn’t hesitate to drive into the hills and help him. He wonders what Makishima looks like now; he wonders if he’s learnt the same lessons, too. He wonders if he’ll be able to see them — the way they mar Makishima’s skin, the way they sit just behind his eyes, the way they keep him from being him. It isn’t as though Toudou hasn’t seen him not once these past four years, but moments seem fleeting in Makishima’s presence. Like he’s chasing after a ghost, or someone who doesn’t want to be found, or someone who doesn’t want to be found by him. Toudou doesn’t know what he does wrong. Everyone else is awestruck, positively stunned; everyone else admires him, wants him, wants to be him — but never Makishima. Nothing he’s ever done could impress Makishima the way he impresses the rest of the world. But Toudou wouldn't want that, either.
