“He didn’t come home.” He stutters his way through the sentence, like it’s the scariest thing he’s ever said. Like he’s forcing himself to say it but doesn’t understand why it’s so scary, just that it is. Josh frowns at the screen in response. Tentatively types, possibly abandoned.
Jesus. What the hell is wrong with people these days?
“Who didn’t come home, Theo? Your dad?”
Theo, 5. Child in distress. Possibly abandoned.
The radio crackles with acknowledgment as Theo exhales shakily. It’s wet, like he’s building up all the courage his little body has to offer. “My Buck.”

Or, Theo calls 9-1-1 because Buck doesn't come home after he gets hurt on a shift.

Summary
Missing Chris is less of an emotion these days and more of a physical entity. He’s sure everyone can see that he’s slowly hollowing himself out, that he can’t do much of anything else.
But when Jee laughs at him trying to get his tongue to touch his nose, and Mara loops one of her arms through his to keep him from tossing the rest of his cup in the garbage, Eddie feels solid again.
Maybe he likes yellow birthday cake ice cream after all.
(or, gerrard messes with the team's schedules and eddie 'i just drove my son to flee the state' diaz is the only option to watch mara and jee-yun after school on tuesdays, which, shouldn't be a problem at all, right?)

Summary
The result of the lawsuit has Buck feeling lost so on an impulse decision he leaves it all behind. Driving aimlessly, he finds himself on the outskirts of the city with nothing but a duffle bag of his clothes and wallet.
There, he stumbles upon a small, close-knit group of people living simply - artists, musicians and all sorts who have left behind the noise of modern life and embraces a quieter way of living. Though hesitant at first, Buck is welcomed with open arms and no expectations. He forms new bonds along the way and maybe eventually rekindles lost ones.
