    Summary

He had to blink once or twice, just to make sure. This was an image straight out of a dream, slender and tall, solid in appearance, pure and perfect. She walked towards him on her own two feet, her delicate fingers clutching the vaporous skirt of a dark dress with layers and layers of stars. It was a shimmery, low-cut and elegant mess of simulated fabrics and zircon, standing on glass heels and with her hair done in a bun, long dark silk gloves past her elbows and a beautiful, disarming smile.
He knew this was a holographic projection of some sort -there was a certain transparency to her pale human skin that gave away the illusion- but it might as well have been real.
At least, his brain was dazed enough to believe it was real.
The Master Chief’s only response, at first, was to swallow hard.
“Oh, I’m the strangest thing you’ve seen all day?” Cortana arched an eyebrow, ironic. “After you were paraded in your dress whites like an art piece?”

    Summary

“This is what you will wear,” Maestro said, his eyes twinkling in that strange gentle way that endeared him to her. Christine slowly crossed the room from the crates, drawn to the dress as if in a trance. Her fingers reached out, hesitating just above the fabric. “It–It’s beautiful,” she whispered, “But I couldn’t possibly…”
“You can,” Maestro said firmly. “And you will.”
Christine touched the gown at last, marvelling at the soft silk beneath her fingers. “I shall spoil it,” she whispered, doubt creeping into her voice.
“Nonsense,” Maestro assured her, pressing the gown into her hands with surprising tenderness. “The gown would be incomplete without you.”

    Summary

    France, 1973.

When an opportunity arises for a small town teaching job, Christine decides it’s time to pack up her dead end career in a bustling Paris for the peaceful semi-country life, at least, peaceful was what she intended. But not what she got.

The town is quiet enough, the school is simple enough. Her co workers are all nice and talkative-well, except for one. There are rumours that there is only one teacher that the children are truly frightened of, a quiet and unsociable musician, who would rather haunt his own office than be seen anywhere else. Perhaps these rumours are true, but Christine can only wonder, is there more beneath than what lies on the surface?

    Summary

Christine Daaé is down on her luck.
Left in Paris with no family or prospects, the young Swedish girl captures the attention of a wealthy, albeit mysterious and strange, musician who makes her an offer she can’t refuse.
Marry him and live in his fairytale Château in the countryside. He even offers her singing lessons so she can one day fulfil her dream of one day singing in the grand opera houses of Paris.
Erik, more commonly known as the Phantom by those around him, recognises the daughter of the esteemed violin player. He sees a chance to nurture a fellow musical soul, as well as offer security to somebody who sorely needs it. What he didn’t account for was falling in love with the young soprano, despite having no hope she could ever love him back once she saw what he was hiding under the mask.

Christine/Erik modern AU with marriage of convenience.
