Eric is a Dauntless, through and through— or at least he was before he slips when cutting his hand at the choosing ceremony and spills his blood into a pot of dirt that looks more like death itself than anything else.
It’s an accident— of course it is, he’s no pansy picking idiot— but for some reason no one believes him when he demands re-entry into Dauntless— even when he shoves his status as the son of a leader of his former faction down their throats.
Instead, like everyone else, he must accept his new faction and endure its ‘rigorous’ initiation process.
Even if it was an accident.
Even if it wasn’t.
Even if it was completely and utterly Emmy’s fault— and for the record, Eric strongly believes that it was Emmy’s fault.

Summary
The Second Wizarding War has ended and the wizarding world is ecstatic knowing that The Dark Lord Voldemort has been defeated once and for all by Harry Potter. Hogwarts has been repaired and its halls are bustling with activity as the usual seven class years have been augmented by an eighth to allow the students whose education had been disrupted by the war to complete their education.
Of course, an interrupted education isn't the only side effect of the war and, while most are coping with the effects of the war with the help of their family and friends, the same cannot be said for everybody. What happens to those who have no family to turn to? Those who don't feel they deserve the support of their friends? The ones on whose shoulders too much responsibility was placed and for whom the expectations remain too high? This story follows the struggles of one such young man and his journey to acceptance and healing through the emotional support of the last people he'd ever have thought to find a family with.
WARNING: The subject matter of this story may be an issue for some. It most certainly does not start out in a happy place and while all will eventually turn out for the better it will be a journey to get there.

On a personal holiday in Rome, Harry runs into Draco Malfoy living in the last place on earth he'd ever expected to see the wizard again: working in a brothel in Rome. The Malfoy heir had unexpectedly disappeared the year after the war, and everyone assumed something nefarious had happened to him. Oh, how right they were… The story he has to tell Harry seems impossible, and yet there's too much in it that smacks of truth, especially concerning Hermione and her uncharacteristic retreat from society after the war.
Can a person come back from being so broken that they're hardly recognisable as the person they once were? Harry's determined to try with his abused best friend, Hermione, and her ex-lover, Draco.
