Summary
A Mondstadt knight and a Snezhnayan soldier, burdened by virtues and foregone sins, crossed paths in a perilous time. Bound in loyalty and silence, they fought in a meaningless war that neither could afford to lose.
They should not have met back then, at only eighteen and nineteen, hardly knowing who they were or what they would one day be. But as the moon pulls the tide, so too Kaeya pulled Childe; inevitably, helplessly, unwittingly.
On the chessboard of gods and men, only one move remained, and it was to sacrifice all preservation in the name of victory.

“So,” Wriothesley says, lingering in the threshold, peering around the door, letting in more cold air. “Good news and… weird news. Got firewood. That’s the good news.”
Neuvillette frowns. “And the weird news?”
Another Wriothesley eases around the door, a sheepish expression on his face, his arms also full of firewood. A third Wriothesley steps into the cottage, and the original? The first Wriothesley? He closes the door with his toe. All three of them wear the same expression, a mix of hope and uncertainty, a tentative but shy smile.
“So,” the first Wriothesley says. “There was a ley line disruption out behind the house.”
Wriothesley finds himself unable to keep up with the demands of Neuvillette's first heat. A ley line disruption offers an unexpected solution.
