If Otto wanted to bleed out his resentment into Julius, Julius could not hate him for it. Julius was a coward who never fought the duel he wanted, who let the voices of brothers and friends fizzle out into uncertain silence. I thought I was in your shadow, Otto said. He hadn’t needed to say it for Julius to grasp that truth about him. At that rate, Vollachia had been their first official meeting: as rivals, Otto shaking with rage, and as acquaintances, Otto trembling as Julius lived up to his lady and his missing friend and gave into greed.
Yet acquaintances did not kiss each other like this. Julius was just certain that Otto wanted to drive him mad.
When Otto falls ill, Julius gets a little more than he bargained for.

Somewhere along the line, Julius lost half himself, entrusted what was left of that self to Subaru, proceeded to take what was essentially a year-long sabbatical from the knight’s order excused via being forgotten by everyone he knows and loves, and somehow expected to be able to pick all the pieces back up and form himself again.
Whoever that him is supposed to be, now.
Or, Julius falls out of line, falls apart, and falls unforgivably in love.
Not necessarily in that order.

Summary

During today's riveting adventure, Subaru will once again have to conquer fate and change the outcome that he was originally handed. Subaru runs into Julius, and together they will have to win against a witchbeast whose abilities far surpass the ordinary wolgarm or whatnot. Just how difficult will it be to defeat a witchbeast that confuses the eye and seemingly can't be damaged? As an added challenge, Julius's tendency to want to protect Subaru is hindering his focus on battle.
