Summary
"Zhou Zishu breathed in deeply, savoring the fragrance. He’d ridden ahead of the rest of the party this morning to have a chance to appreciate this alone. It had been a long five months away from his home. He’d missed the entire winter season, including the new year festival. Missed the plum blossoms. Missed…
Well. He'd missed quite a bit. His wife, most notably. Their marriage contract had barely been agreed on before Wen Kexing had arrived at Siji, and the wedding happened. They didn’t know each other at all - which wasn’t uncommon - but they should’ve had time afterwards to… settle into things. Of course, Zhou Zishu’s life was never that simple. The very next morning had brought news of a series of floods that had hit the lowlands, severely damaging the villages and farms down the mountain from Siji, and he’d personally brought a group of disciples to aid them, leaving Wen Kexing at the manor... Five months married, and he’d only spent a single night with this new wife of his. He didn’t even know if Wen Kexing liked him yet."

She gives him a flat look in return. “It’s September, and we’re still in the middle of a heat wave, but he just came back from my brother’s place wearing a scarf. Really? You think he’s cold?”
It takes a moment for her meaning to sink in. He’d noticed the scarf before, but just because it was still warm out didn’t mean that Zhou Zishu was only wearing it to cover something. Probably. What could he possibly need to hide?
“What if he had a mosquito bite that he was protecting?”
Gu Xiang snorts and rolls her eyes. “Yeah, maybe if it’s a vampire mosquito.”
