    “Angelus.”

    His grandsire grinned at him from the doorway. “Spike.” He said, sounding for all the world like he was pleasantly surprised.
    He was hauling around a sweet-smelling bundle of youth– a fresh-faced little girl whose thundering blood reeked of the unripened energy Angelus had always been fondest of before he’d been saddled with a soul. She was shivering with fear, fumigating the room with it. Her big blue eyes darted between her captor and the beast before her.

    Laughter burbled up out of Spike’s throat. Disbelief. After a century of being a great, big, useless sod… “I'll be damned.”
