    “You can’t marry Xander,” Anya said firmly, glaring at Spike from across the table.

    “Oh, I’m definitely marrying Xander,” replied Spike. “It’d be a perfect marriage: watch his TV, drink his beer…” He took a sip of his whiskey. “You’ll never get rid of me.”

    “You are—and I do mean this as an insult—not my type,” deadpanned Xander.

    “Tough, that’s not the game.” His gaze turned to Willow, and he smiled wickedly, leaning on his elbows to take another pretzel. “Kill the witch. Turn her into a fierce magic-wielding vamp. She brings on an endless night: let the reign of terror begin, the blood of the innocents flow.”

    Willow huffed, unimpressed. “Dream on.”

    Spike chuckled. He took a pretzel, placing it luridly on the tip of his tongue and disappearing it with a crunch. “And fuck the Slayer,” he said dusting the clinging salt off his fingers. “You know I’ve said that so many times it’s lost all meaning.”
