Dib’s voice, loud and shrill, returns to her ears. Provoking their father, poking the bear, so reactive and demanding a response in kind. Demanding that Dad hit him, hurt him, do something, anything that would prove this matters. That Dib matters. That any of this matters.
That they're worth getting angry over, worth violence, worth something more than clinical notes in a lab file. That they're children, not experiments. Sons and daughters, not data points. Be a man and admit you fucked up.
