Summary
Zim flees Earth after finding out that he is going to have a smeet despite the fact it should be impossible. It doesn’t help that him and Dib had been in a rough patch of their relationship, having a fight the night before departure.
Zim starts working at an intergalactic shopping mall to support himself and the smeet. But after the smeet is born, he realizes that he can’t care for him at the moment. So after a week, he decides to give the smeet to his father, Dib.

Dib makes to move away, but Gaz halts him with a vicious grip around his wrist, her thumbnail digging into the edge of a still-exposed cut. It makes fresh blood come to head, red, like every other human’s, but all the more precious. The crimson beads up, pools, threatens to spill over.
Evidence. Proof. Reality made manifest in the most visceral way possible.
There were only two successful cloning attempts.
Just two. Out of how many failures, how many discarded prototypes, how many almosts and not-quites?
Only Dad knows. Only Dad would never say.
“Gaz,” Dib says, voice wavering, younger suddenly, smaller, “you’re hurting me.”

Dib tried to stop staring, he really did. But he had never seen Zim’s skin look so bad. His water fights with Zim had been nothing against this. The skin he could see was peeling itself off Zim’s face, in a dark and shabby color, and from underneath the Irken’s uniform came a thick, white steam.
“Kinda hard to stop staring when you look this fucking ugly.”
