No one expected what happened tonight. Least of all Red. But it was a fact. It had happened. She was too late. She knew she would never be able to make the princess hers. She knew she had wasted too much time. Her mother, the queen, had been right. She was a disappointment.
That’s why she was sitting here now, with a glass in hand, while the princess had said yes to someone else. To a prince. Yes, Chloe deserved a prince, not a disappointment. Red knew this, but it didn’t lessen the pain in her chest. She should have been with Chloe now, congratulating her and being happy for the princess, but she wasn’t.
She was sitting in a dingy bar. She had promised herself one night to grieve for her lost love.
