Summary
Dan and Phil crossed paths for the first time in 2009. Lonely at university, Phil became Dan’s safe haven. It could have been just a teenage crush, but Dan never was quite able to get over Phil.
Now it's 2026, and Dan's got got nothing to show for himself, except for his career, and he can feel that slipping through his fingers. He has writer's block, and it's all Phil's fault.
Their paths cross once again, and this time, Dan's not letting Phil get away.

She’s not wrong. He’s literally editing a video about this exact problem right now, but it still hurts to know that she doesn’t have any faith in him.
‘I think I could get really good at this, mum,’ Dan tries, desperate to defend this new facet of his life. He’d been so happy about it before, but now here’s his mum, come to rain on his parade, just like she always doesHe doesn’t know why he ever trusts that his mum won’t overreact like this. It’s a cycle he’s been trapped in for years. She’s never bothered to try and understand any of Dan’s interests. She always assumes the worst of him.
It bothers him that she’s right. Dan has never been very good at taking care of himself. He does eat like shit, and his room is constantly a mess, and he does procrastinate constantly, in her defence. But usually, he’s procrastinating to do something like play video games or to scroll endlessly through YouTube and Twitter. This time, he’s procrastinating in pursuit of something actually good. For the first time in his life, he feels like he could be contributing something valuable to the world. -

Junhui doesn't necessarily mind being cursed.
“I hate you,” Calcifer huffs, flames coming out of where his mouth would be. The door behind Junhui—the unblocked one—opens and Calcifer perks up. “Minghao! He’s torturing me! The strange, long man is torturing me!”
“Is he now?” a lyrical voice asks. Suddenly, there’s a hand on the pan in front of Junhui’s with a blue and silver sleeve used as a makeshift oven mitt. “Pardon me, strange, long man, but I’m afraid my fire is throwing a fit.”
“Hey!” Calcifer yelps as Junhui tries to back up and runs into a person. When he turns around, it takes everything in him not to ask why everyone in the house is so attractive. Minghao is gorgeous with a little impish grin and Junhui finds himself tongue-tied to an embarrassing degree.
“Hello,” Minghao says softly. That smile never leaves their face. “Can I ask why you’re in my house and irritating my fire?”

Yunho knows he’s not doing well, Mingi had said as much in a text goodnight before he got into bed yesterday. The voice gets impossibly softer, ‘Do you need me to come over?’
He can barely get out his affirmation to the offer as a bit of relief rushes into him, ‘Please.’
