Spencer in no way expects the whole world to gasp in awe whenever he runs an algorithm faster than a computer could, or produces an esoteric fact he read about once a decade ago. But whenever Alvez smiles when everybody else rolls their eyes, it kind of knocks the wind out of him.
So Spencer is in desperate need of an argument to convince himself that it’s a good thing that nothing will ever happen between them, and that all his mental power currently dedicated to daydreaming about Luke Alvez would be better spent literally anywhere else.

Summary
Spencer takes Hotch's advice to "catch the rest of that movie," and ends up being attacked and kidnapped on his way home. He survives the weekend of torture and does his best to get back to his life without tipping his team off that anything is wrong. He's (mostly) successful.
