Todd’s heart stops. Or it feels like it does because… that’s a voice. That’s a human voice. That’s a human voice that he must have been hallucinating. He’s been driving too long, drunk too much coffee, didn’t get enough sleep last night he’s just-
“Bloody hell, it’s dark in here.”
Nope. Todd scrambles to open the car door and flings himself away from the vehicle, stumbling backwards until he lands on his ass, staring at the car with wide eyes and struggling to catch his breath past the sheer terror that’s overcome him all of a sudden.
This isn’t happening.
***Todd knows the work he does isn't the most morally sound, being a delivery guy for a local gang was never going to to be, but the job is good, the pay is better, and no matter how temporary it was supposed to be when he started he has no intention of stopping now.
Then a strange man with an even stranger name wakes up in the trunk of his car, and everything goes to shit.

Summary
Svlad's at the point where he’s just wandering around London. He’s poked his head inside a pet shop, four restaurants, a hair salon (he doesn’t know anything about hair but he’s sure he can learn on the job), a bakery, and six video stores. Everyone’s turned him down for work, which he thinks is a little inconsiderate, honestly, they don’t even know him. He’s somewhere in Soho when he sees a large bookshop. It looks like it’s been there forever, with lovely large windows and a very nice wood front. The top of the bookstore reads that it’s the store of one Mr. Ezra Fell.
Svlad hasn’t tried a bookshop yet. Might as well get shot down there, too.
Where Dirk Gently, thoroughly down on his luck, gets a job in a bookstore shortly after getting kicked out of Cambridge, and tries to figure things out.

Summary
Even from a young age, he isn’t a romantic. It’s around third grade that kids start writing to their Match, eight year olds asking questions about their name, where they’re from, what they like, who they are. Todd doesn’t. He’s not really into the idea of Matches, even if it’s something he can’t change. People fall in love with people. If he falls in love, he’s not going to fall in love with someone who he knows only from ink on his arms that he didn’t put there.
Whoever his Match is, however, does not feel the same way. His left arm (so he must be right handed) is covered with doodles. Crude flowers drawn with what looks like ballpoint pens, so lots of skipping and gaps in the lines. Sometimes the outlines of hearts that look like fountain pens, but are smudged quickly, the ink running too hard.
Soulmate AU where anything you write on your arm appears visible on your soulmate's. Written for the Dirk Gently Big Bang 2017.
