And so, when the cigarette has been burned out and stamped into the earth by Mickey’s mother’s grave, when his face becomes a little more solemn and the silence has stretched too long, Ian reaches over and tangles his fingers through his. Mickey’s hand is cold to the touch, a little damp from the rain, and Ian squeezes it all the tighter.
