Ricky’s smile tightens momentarily, so quickly that Gina wouldn’t have noticed it if they weren’t standing so close.
“Yeah, I get it, you guys did amazing in there.”
“What?” Gina’s brain takes a second to catch up, before she realises he’s talking about her duet with EJ. “Oh, no, not that. I mean, that too! It was really fun. But also because my mom is moving back to Salt Lake.”
“Wait what?” Ricky’s eyes widen. His grip on the now crumpled list slackens with his distraction but Gina doesn’t press the advantage, giddiness from the news bubbling up inside her again.
Or, Gina tells Ricky the good news about her mom.
