The words didn’t even register for a second and then the meaning of them hit Mike all at once. His head snapped towards his desk where Dustin was sitting and he felt his stomach drop.The desk drawer was opened. There was a familiar notebook in Dustin’s hands and he seemed to be flipping through with a particular expression on his face.

For a long heartbeat he simply gazed, drinking in every line, every vulnerable inch. “You are the most beautiful thing the gods ever allowed to walk this broken world,” he said quietly. “And I am only a man who has been given more grace than he deserves.”
