    A giant pale snake stalked the forest, looking for prey. He was as mighty as he was deadly and everyone feared him. Even the humans.

    While on the prowl, he came across an egg. A delicious looking chocobo egg in an abandoned nest.

    Before he could eat it, a thought occurred to him. A hatchling with its crunchy bones and juicy meat would make a far more enjoyable meal than a measly egg.

    So he settled to wait, coiling around the egg, waiting for it to hatch.

    As the shell started to crack, he perked up, eager to feast. A mop of unruly feathers appeared, followed by a pair of clearest blue eyes he'd ever seen. They gazed at him in adoration and he couldn't look away.

    Many had feared him, many had hated him, but he'd never seen such affection directed at him. What a fascinating creature this was! It would be a waste to kill it, he decided. No, he would keep it. He would make it his own.

    It would be his pet.
