Summary
Five tenets govern the decision of a Substitute King in the event an evil omen is predicted. Now, for the first time in many generations, an omen of disastrous proportions is set to take place during the ruling of the Matsuoka dynasty. Recently appointed as sovereign at the untimely passing of his father, Rin is forced to follow the tenets set out and fall behind the scenes as his substitute is named an appointed - one inconsequential Haruka Nanase, a meager villager. Rin must teach Haru how to act kingly in his place for the 100 day ephemeral period. At the end of the 100 days, the substitute king is then sacrificed as thanks for allowing the king safe passage beyond the grasp of the evil omen. Their bond grows a touch too close and the ephemeral period draws to an end. Rin is powerless to change the tenets in his lifetime.

Summary
Rin nearly drowns on a rescue mission, but is saved by a mysterious person. After recovering, his life is thrust into an interesting turn when he finds out his grandmother took in a stranger that washed up on the beach one day. There's definitely something fishy about this guy. He can't talk and doesn't remember anything except his name. Rin will try his best to help this mysterious person find out who they are and where they're from.
Except this mysterious person knows exactly who he is and where he's from. But he can't let anyone know that, or rather, physically cannot tell anyone that. Haru gave up his voice to become a human to experience love... like a human does. He has a limited time to have his love returned or face his own demise.
