When LBD left the mind of the Monkey King, she left it in shambles, wretched ruins incapable of standing alone. Leaving behind only a terrified monkey overwhelmed by his most irrepressive instinct.
When Macaque agreed to help MK, he didn't sign up to be a babysitter. But apparently, he was the only one Sun Wukong trusted in this feral state.
He was only doing it because he had to feed on someone else's magic. At least that's what he told himself while he wiped the tears or his murderer.

Macaque is forced to realize how much his oldest friend is hurting, and he is struggling with this revelation. Sun Wukong struggles with other blooming feelings once healed, but how could he not when he learn of the way Macaque cared for him when he was hurting ?

Summary
After being invited to a banquet by a mysterious King of Shadows they find out the long thought-to-be-dead Six-Eared Macaque is actually in fact alive and has taken up a new title. When Mk finds out the fact that, unlike many of Monkey King's other old friends and enemies, Macaque doesn't want to kill him he decides a sort of alliance might be in the cards. With the collective distaste for Lady Bone Demon's revival and the desire to best her, past enemies turn into allies to join the fight. But there are still quite a few hurdles the group needs to jump before they can truly come together the main one being Sun Wukong's past actions.
This is the compilation of all the current (and eventually future) chapters of King of Shadows AU where basically Macaque decides to reclaim his title of King of the Macaques (like in jttw) and not be a homeless rat man.

I don't need nobody watching me sleep, ya dig? Those silhouettes look way too real." The macaque's ears drooped a bit, but he quickly perked up and started fixing his buddy's hair. Despite the late hour, everything felt peaceful. They could've kicked it like that forever. But what ever happened to the Six-eared Macaque and his 'odd' monkey pal that the other monkeys used to gossip about?
The Macaque probably showed him a whole new world he never even knew existed after being shunned from the rest of the crew for so long.

Wukong could handle the anger and the hatred and the resentment. It hurt, sometimes on a skin deep level and sometimes on a soul deep level, but he could take it. He knew most of it was justified. What he couldn’t handle was the thought of Macaque growing indifferent to him.

“No! Never! Liu’er.” Macaque snapped his head up at his true name being used. “I’ve never stopped loving you, never.” Macaque felt his eyes water and he sniffled. “Me neither.. I’m so sorry for attacking the monk- I saw him hurt you and I couldn’t just-” Wukong pulled him into a hug and let out soft purrs. “I know, I know. I’m sorry for murdering you, I should’ve just talked to you.”
