Frohike’s look of exasperation morphs into one of anger. “He’s being a dick, Scully. Have you told him that?”
She surprises even herself with the bark of laughter that escapes her. “I don’t think he’d take kindly to that. Especially not now.”
“Scully, I- I don’t understand…I don’t get it.”
She lets out a rueful little laugh, voice thick as she whispers, “Me either.”

A canon divergent take on the Gunmen's involvement in the Diana-arc, in which they're leading the charge for Team Trust-No-One and revealing a lot more about that whole "collecting data on female abductees" piece that somehow got brushed under the rug.

Summary
Three in-between scenes from Per Manum, all from the “present day” parts of this episode. (I wrote ficlets for two of the flashback scenes and set them in Season 7. You can find them here and here.) Part one: Immediately after Scully and Doggett first meet Duffy Haskell. Part two: After Scully drags Doggett out in the middle of the night to tell him she's "taking a leave of absence." Part three: Post-episode angst.

Summary
Mulder is abducted and instead of sending down a burly, rough agent to work with Dana Scully, they send down Detective Superintendent Stella Gibson to be her new partner. Basically a re-write of season 8 (and maybe more) but instead of traumatizing Scully further, she gets a partner and some happiness.

Painted across the barren and desolate reaches of Texas, the shadows of the Project put additional pressure on Scully and Mulder's already fragile relationship. After a hostage crisis raises more questions about the Project's breeding program, Scully begins her own investigation, leaving Mulder to choose between saving her and saving himself. Finally, the investigation leads to tragedy and Mulder and Scully find that more questions have been asked than answered.
The title reference was to an island mentioned in Medea, to which we turned for fairly obvious reasons.
Take the warning seriously: extreme violence, including the death of children.
