sevika is exhausted. she's been up for close to 21 hours by now, fighting off firelights who were ransacking one of the shimmer distribution tracks in the ventilation system last night. worse of all: she hasn't even gotten paid yet. unable to go to babettes, she heads down to the last drop, and ends up picking up the reader - an inexperienced, virgin firelight informant, who is a new enough initiate that she can't even remember this woman is "the enemy" incarnate. sevika ends up taking the reader back to her apartment, but what will happen when it comes out that the reader is part of the very group sevika despises most?

you know how in the prologue, when thorfinn has to light a building on fire in an english village to signal askeladds men to come & pillage, he tells the woman and girl that helped him to run? you know how he has the goodness in him to say that? it makes me wonder… in the manga, when he sees askeladds men about to assault a woman, why does he just get up and walk away? isn't that a little ooc considering his small act of kindness in the english village? this fic aims to explain why thorfinn doesn't say anything to delay the assault, by asking how he first learned what depraved things vikings do to women, & how that might have traumatized him. mind the tags and warnings. -

i think benny deserves more development than he gets in the anime & manga, and i think his relationship to the other characters deserves to be explored (or at the very least, he deserves more scenes). i'm hoping to fill this gap through a character study, wherein i write scenes, plot bunnies or headcanons based on the various objects i imagine he keeps in his room aboard the black lagoon. i can't guarantee how much i'll write, but please enjoy!
