Summary
Sometimes, homesickness forces you to go and leave the LA vibe in exchange for the salty Lisbon air. Sometimes, it's the same homesickness that makes you sick of the home. So what do you do when the only fascinating left to do is watching your ceiling fan for so long that you've memorized when it wobbles?
Courtney says to live life to the fullest. Tommy says to get on a dating app. And, so, Amanda does.
Against better judgement, she finds herself in a white van with an American far away from home and their terrier who fights birds for, seemingly, a living.

All the world's a stage, and Angela's merely a player in ██████'s.
Angela Giarratana is a student at the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. After a night of fun (and then some), she finds herself in a lecture hall, only to realize the mysterious, intoxicating woman she just hooked up with in the driver's seat of a Volvo is her terrifyingly strict Theater 106 instructor.

"Don't waste a drop," the bartender breathed, her voice dropping another impossible octave. "Keep going. Don't stop."
Angela was drowning. She was drowning in the bitter ale, the stifling heat of the tent, and the absolute, consuming gravity of the woman completely dismantling her.

Summary
The memory of the Smosh Games studio flashed brightly in Amanda’s mind.
She and Angela sat on the leather couch filming the lore video. Spencer had explained the intricate and tragic backstory of Mother Miranda. He spoke of a mother losing her daughter to the Spanish flu in the early nineteen hundreds. He described how she descended into a cave beneath a graveyard to end her own life, only to find the black sludge.
"When she touches it, she realizes the mold contains all of the memories of everyone who was buried in the ground above it," Spencer had said, staring blankly at the capture screen. "It could be a way to bring her daughter back."
"Why would she think that would bring her daughter back? Because it's only memories."
Spencer had looked at them perfectly deadpan.
"What is a person, if not memories?"

Summary
Two years. For two years, Amanda had gone home and complained to Angela about her relationship. She had texted Angela from dates. She had casually, carelessly demanded Angela’s constant emotional support, entirely blind to the fact that she was forcing Angela to ghostwrite a romance she wasn't allowed to star in.
And Angela had let her.

"I just want him to suffer," Amanda announced to the ceiling, waving her free hand in a sweeping, theatrical gesture. "Is that so toxic? I want him scrolling his feed at two in the morning and feeling like his stomach just dropped completely out of his ass."
"Use me, Amanda," Angela said, practically purring with the pitch. "I’m basically all your exes rolled into one anyway. Tell him you moved on. Tell him you're with me."

There's just something about the aftermath of a friend date at the local farmers' market. Especially when what comes after hours of taste testing spiced honey, goat-cheese, and fresh fruit is something more delectable and comes in the form of friends sitting close to each other — closer than friends usually sat.

"One set. That's all I'm asking," Tommy said, holding up a single finger like he was negotiating a hostage release. "If they're terrible, we leave. We can go to that pretentious speakeasy downtown with the twelve-dollar ice cubes and the jazz pianist you have a crush on."
Amanda’s Thursday nights are usually reserved for color-coded calendars, a glass of Cabernet, and pristine quiet. She does not do sticky-floored dive bars, and she definitely doesn't do chaotic and ferocious pop-punk singers.
And yet, all it took was forty minutes of heavy bass and guitar feedback to completely derail her carefully curated life.
