Summary
Scaramouche says, “I figured you were out here alone and someone would have to take one for the team and make sure you’re not by yourself.”
“Take one for the team?” Kazuha scoffs with a poorly hidden smile at Scaramouche’s sarcasm. “Ah, wow. I see.”
Scaramouche makes a small noise of acknowledgment and lets his attention drift towards the inside of the house. Through the glass door, he spots a countdown on the television.
“You know, if I knew any better,” Kazuha says, voice barely above a whisper. “I’d say that you want to be out here with me. Or wherever I may happen to be, for that matter.”
(alternatively: Scaramouche starts his new year exactly where he wants to be – by Kazuha's side.)

Summary
Having nightmares isn't something new to Kaveh, but that isn't to say they exhibit no effect on him. They force him to remember things that make his heart ache, and he often finds himself too frightened to go to sleep afterwards for fear that he will have to relive the horrific scenes played in his mind.
This time around, however, an unexpected yet welcomed source of consolation has come to him.
(alternatively: Kaveh has a nightmare about his father's death and Alhaitham is there to comfort him.)

Summary
“I’m done.” The chair Kaveh is in scrubs harshly against the library’s floor as he stands up abruptly, slinging his bag over his shoulder with hands that seem a little less stable than usual.
“Kaveh–” Alhaitham begins as the blonde shoves the chair under the table with force. Kaveh then whirls around to face him.
“No,” Kaveh chokes out. It feels like his throat is being enveloped in flames, and he can also feel beads of water beginning to cling to his lashes. He needs to leave – no way in hell will he let Alhaitham see him like this. “You’re so selfish, you know that? I’m not gonna sit here and let you say that to me.”
(alternatively: Kaveh and Alhaitham have a fight that turns out to be a little more intense and damaging than usual.)

Summary
Summer.
It is a time for change. To become more, to discover beauty in things that never looked beautiful, and heal from scars both old and new. A time for kissing atop Ferris wheels, breaking into a rich dude's house to get high, and having sex under neon lights. To let the good times roll.
One summer is all it takes to change five lives and upend all that they believed to be true about themselves and their worlds. Through the pain of the past, pleasure of the present, and fear of the future, five men come together, grow with one another, and leave as something more than what they once were.
