Without much thought, Avery plants a kiss on the hand he’s holding. The world stops. Derek has a look on his face that Avery can’t read. He thinks the handsome man’s about as surprised as he is that he did that, though. They spend what feels like forever in that suspense, both holding their breaths like they're drowning in it. The only noise to be heard is the cheesy music shadowing the interaction.
