Summary
Don't fear the reaper.
Don't fear his thin, brittle arm around you, accept that he will catch up no matter what track you run. Don't fear the freezing edge of his scythe smothering your neck in an oath to end the pain. It'll hurt for a split second, but it's better this way. Embrace it. Learn to be indifferent.
Or, a stream-of-consciousness-ish kind-of-analysis drabble that I wrote after finishing the Temperance ending, V's considerations of her relationship with death (and, inevitably, Johnny), post-canon.

Summary
You begin to tremble and thrash your legs as violently as possible, trying to eject yourself from stillness, until you notice that you have been moving the whole time, and in fact, there is just an actual man lying on top of your bed, face down.
Screaming at the top of your lungs, you use all your strength to roll out of the bed with a thud. Upon further observation, the man was almost totally still and hadn't even moved an inch with your racket and fuss. He also seemed to have really nice hair. Anxiety and fear turned into confusion and curiousity, as you cautiously tapped the man on the shoulder.
"Hello? Please don't be dead." You half-joke in a nervous tone.verso was meant to die, forced to paint until maelle's life force slowly drained away to sustain lumiére. but what happens when he's given a second chance through some freak universe entanglement, basically ending up in a modern day romance novel? (in summary, we get to see verso finally have the happy ending he deserves)
