While Dream’s in LA, George has the worst night of his life. He tries to pick up the pieces on his own but doesn’t know if he can do it. He doesn’t know if he’ll ever be himself again.
When he looks in the mirror, a shell of who he used to be stares back at him and he wonders if he’ll get through this.
The only thing that gets him through is Dream.
Dream’s the golden lining that holds him together.

Summary
So George had a problem. A problem he knew it was one, but never dared to say out loud before. Dream could tell something was wrong, and as usual, wanted to help. But this wasn't something he could fix for him, was it?
“Well, there’s nothing you can do,” he said, shrugging.
“Well, I mean… Technically…” The brunet raised an eyebrow.
“What?” His friend let out an awkward laugh.
“You need a heat partner,” Dream pointed out. Then, he pointed at himself. “I’m an alpha.”
At first, the omega didn’t see the relation between both statements. But the moment it clicked, his cheeks instantly turned red, huffing and looking away.
“You’re such an idiot,” he let out. “Stop messing around.”
“I’m not, I’m not! I’m being deadass.”
George blinked a few times, before huffing again, expecting him to laugh and say he was kidding. But he didn’t.
“So what? What does that mean?” He pressed. Because there’s no way the boy was actually suggesting that. “You would just, fuck me?”
“If that’s what you needed.” The alpha shrugged, as if the conversation was normal.

Summary
As top New York baker of 404 Sweets, Dream is excited to come home from his work trip to show the world what he's learned. Everything seems normal when he returns; for example, his roommate Sapnap still refuses to admit there's something more to his 'friends with benefits' relationship with Karl. The only thing that's bothering him is the almost kiss with his best friend (and boss), George, before he'd left for Europe. It's something they need to talk about, he knows, but it's New Year's Eve. For now, he's ready to celebrate with his friends, and face whatever the future holds in the morning.
And then, the Redolence Virus hits, and everyone's world is changed forever.

Summary
The boy is looking back at him from across the cove. His eyes are dark, pupils narrow like a cat's. His ears are slightly pointed but mostly human in appearance and in his mouth, held between two rows of very, very sharp and white fangs, a fish.
He watches Dream for a second more before ducking his head and diving into the darkness below. Before he disappears fully, a fanned tail surfaces and slaps the water. The birds and fish return to pick up the scraps George left behind.

Summary
Day 3: Flowers
“I promise you. I promise I’ll come back.”
He promises, George thinks wistfully. He promises such a thing- to offer George with his word on something, to uphold it. It’s as if he’s saying that he’ll give the world to him, just for him. But somewhere is the lingering thought in George's mind is that he won't come back. That the cruel war that had riddled their land will take him too, and he will be left aching and worry-worn. George shivers at the thought. Of a life without him.
“You promise?"
That you’ll come home to me?
And as if he heard those unspoken words. Dream beams at him.
“I promise. You won’t even notice that I was gone, my love.”
George lets out a wet and broken laugh at the overly romantic pet name that he associates with his beloved. Dream does so too, before pulling him back into his embrace.
They stay there for a bit. The war can wait.
“I promise I’ll be waiting.”
