Eve stopped mid sentence, and heard Amanda’s customer voice switch on as she turned to look at the new person. Once she did though, any more words she could say died in her throat.
Up close, the woman was even more gorgeous than she had looked from afar in the low light, and at some point a lock of her soft blond hair must have come loose to hang down in her face, brushing against her cheek. Eve felt herself redden a little, and looked at her helplessly as Amanda slung her towel over her shoulder.

“Adam, listen-” Lawrence flushed a little bit. “I need to tell you something.”
There was a beat of silence, and then he said it. “I love you.”
Adam’s heart stopped and restarted, and it was all he could do not to shrink back away from the words. It wasn’t that- well, it wasn’t as if Adam hadn’t known it. He had seen the way the man looked at him sometimes- it made his stomach bottom out, the way that the man regarded him. He knew that Lawrence had felt… strongly, about him, but there was a difference between knowing it and having the words out there between them, fizzling out in the silence.

Summary
Adam was fucking exhausted as he stepped into the warmth of their apartment, the wind chill still lingering on his skin as he let the door shut behind him. He could hear movement- in a shocking turn of events, Lawrence had gotten home before him, and he took a couple of minutes to shed his jacket, hanging it on the coat rack before finally sliding his headphones off to rest around his neck.
“Hey, I’m home.” He called out, and heard the movement pause for a moment before starting again, Lawrence’s head appearing through the kitchen door. He smiled, soft and familiar, and Adam felt all of the annoyance of the day drain out of him just a little.

“Oh, shit!”
Lawrence was so busy focusing on the coffee quickly staining into his coat that it took a couple of seconds for the pain to kick in, his pain smarting as boiling hot liquid soaked into the fabric, burning into his skin a little. It wasn’t too bad- more of an ache than a true burn. He stared at it, his brain lagging for a moment.
