After the events of the bathroom, Adam Faulkner-Stanheight falls into a coma from sepsis-associated encephalopathy. Upon waking, his brain is muddled except for one thing— find Lawrence Gordon, and get revenge on him for what he did.
Lawrence Gordon makes a speedy recovery after his amputation, and quickly returns to life as normal. His guilt, however, is eating him alive, and he doesn’t know how much longer he can stand knowing that Adam fell into this state because of him— but you can only avoid a patient in your own hospital for so long.

Lawrence stared thoughtfully at Adam’s hand between them. He wanted to be part of that bubble Adam could understand. “You’re scared?”
Adam shut his eyes. “Yeah. Yes, I’m scared.” He squinted at the floor, searching for the right set of words. His eyes met Lawrence’s as he spoke, “I feel like I never left that bathroom.”
Blood pounded in Lawrence’s ears. This was the first time Adam had outright acknowledged what had happened between them. And yet, something clicked in the back of Lawrence’s mind. Adam was supposed to be dead. He should have faded in and out of consciousness until he could no longer stave off the hunger, or dehydration, or blood loss, and was left with nothing, not even the memory of his own name.
So what did he have now? When everything had been stripped away, but by some mistake of the universe electricity continued to flow through his body? “You died in the trap,” Lawrence finally said. “I left you to die.”

It’s been a long four months since the Jigsaw trap. Amanda helping him break his foot and bringing him to the local hospital. Four months of medical debt and crutches and begging his landlord for a second chance and going back to his job of being a ‘bottom feeder’ because he desperately needed money. Truth be told, he wasn’t happy and he probably wouldn’t ever be happy.
When not at work - standing behind anything that could keep him covered - he sat outside the door to his apartment and smoked. He smoked full packets of cigarettes in one sitting, letting the warm air burn his lungs and then becoming one with the sky. It was the only relief that he ever felt.

Lawrence pressed his forehead to the door of the darkroom, eyes slipping closed. It was an effort to keep his breathing steady, but he could manage. He could be the put-together doctor for a few more minutes. Just a little longer.
“I– I need my collar, sir,” he admitted quietly. “Please.”
Adam’s music paused entirely, giving way to silence. There was the rustling of paper, the soft sloshing of photo chemicals. And then, with a tenderness in his voice that utterly belied the firmness of his words, his master spoke.
“Bedroom,” Adam told him through the door, authority seeping effortlessly into his voice. “Strip. Get on your knees, and wait for me. And don’t put it on yet. I want to do that myself.”
Lawrence shuddered, that familiar ripple of calm already spreading over him. “Yes, sir. Thank you, sir.”
