Xiao flinched as someone knelt down in front of him. “Oh, you poor thing,” They whispered, “Are you lost? Where’s your caregiver? Do you want me to help you look for them?” It was an attempt to comfort him, but all it did was grate on his already raw emotions.
“‘M not.” Xiao managed to choke out.
“Oh? You’re not lost? Well why is such a cute little one out all alone?” They questioned.
“I’m not a regressor. Leave me alone,” Xiao hissed before standing up and pulling the hood of the cloak tight around himself. His face was still soaked in tears even as he tried to push through the onlookers– he saw a few of them almost reach out to help him, only to be stopped by other members of the crowd. Good. He didn’t need anyone else who thought he was just some dumb baby to try and offer their “help”. -
