It could’ve been worse, really. Piers might’ve been scowly and prickly, and obviously not super excited to be there with Jake, but he was easy on the eyes and Jake honestly liked him. Beyond all the arguing they did, Jake was enjoying himself, and he had an inkling that Piers wasn’t quite as put out as he pretended to be.
Jake wasn’t stupid, he saw those looks Piers was giving him when he thought he didn’t notice. He’d taken his shirt off earlier only half because he was running hot, and half because it always made Piers kind of flustered, trying to avoid looking straight at him. Piers blushed so damn easily, and Jake could tell that he hated it. All the more reason to keep doing it, then!
