It wasn't something that was going to happen for him, you can't be a gay hockey player, especially not in the NHL. Everyone knows this and Shane has always been pragmatic enough to know that he won't fall for a man, not in this lifetime or any lifetime where hockey exists. That's okay. Shane has made his peace with it. But that also means he will never wish for a child. How would he?
