Summary
Tokyo Ghoul was one of the world's strongest jaegers until a disaster during a mission left it minus one pilot. With the end of the world looming on the horizon, the Pan Pacific Defense Corps is desperate to find a replacement -- and that's where Hide comes in. Luckily for the PPDC, he's drift compatible with Tokyo Ghoul's remaining pilot, Kaneki Ken.
But unfortunately for Hide, things are never as simple as they seem. From the moment he arrives, things seem to go wrong. The events leading up to Tokyo Ghoul's disastrous last mission are shrouded in secrecy, his white-haired co-pilot has more baggage than any one person deserves, pilot-potentials are out to sabotage him at every turn, and with more and more kaiju coming through the Breach, the stakes are mounting.
Can Hide figure out how to help Kaneki before the end of the world?

Summary
After the infamous coffee shop raid in the 20th Ward, Hide's father sends him somewhere he can learn more about the CCG and hone his skills as an investigator without too many questions, or too many unpleasant reminders. And maybe his father is also hoping that a change of scenery will help Hide move on.
But moving on isn't that simple, not when Hide made a promise to never leave his friend alone.
