Summary
Deep Space Nine is hosting its fifth annual Peldor Festival. Garak, still struggling to accept the loss of his own home, despises the sound of joy and celebration. All he wants is to be alone.
He fails to notice how thoroughly the changeling that replaces Bashir deceives him.

The Federation reached its long limbs across the ink of space, unendingly planting itself with shallow roots in a thousand worlds. A Cardassian needed nothing outside of the nourishment of the homeland. They sustained the motherland, and in turn, she sustained them. Humans could not truly know isolation, for should they try hard enough, it seemed they could create a home anywhere, fickle creatures that they were.Bookmarked by asbestosparty

“It’s annoying, isn’t it,” Garak said, “when you’ve finally decided to give up and someone comes along and stubbornly insists that you keep living.”
Julian’s eyes blinked open. “Garak?” he whispered.
“Hello, my dear doctor.”

Summary
“The author of the journals,” Stan said, finally standing up. "My brother."
The author of the journals, his brother, looked at the miniscule crowd that had arrived by accident to greet him. The author looked between them all, and Dipper could see reflection on his face from the light of the slowly dimming portal. The author’s gaze finally settled on Stan, and his posture stiffened.
“Dad?” The author of the journals, his brother, choked out. He sounded absolutely baffled.
Stan’s expression turned equally baffled, clearly not anticipating this. “What?”

The portal has opened, and spat out Stanford Filbrick Pines, exactly as he was when he left. Thirty years has passed for the outside world, but only a few hours have been lost for him.
It changes things. Especially with the worst memories of Ford's life still hot on his tail, and eager to make a reappearance.
