Summary
Mia's been single-minded in her pursuit of justice for the past five years and she nearly lost everything because some dumb fucking college student decided he was going to eat the evidence. She should want to strangle him.
She kind of does.
But mostly she just wants this doe-eyed idiot to be okay. She's not really sure why.

Summary
Dahlia is gone, Maya is free, the day is (mostly) saved. So Phoenix and Miles have a talk.
“And Gumshoe says that Iris won’t be transferred until the end of the week, so I can go see her tomorrow,” Phoenix goes on. “He and Maggey are apparently thinking of taking a trip out to Vegas, too, once all the loose ends from this get tied up.”
Miles hears how this conversation is going, and smiles easily. There’s a certain pleasure in talking with Phoenix about other people’s problems.
“Is that what I am, then?” he asks, a little teasing in the dim bronze light, “Your last loose end?”

Summary
It occurs to Phoenix to be self-conscious about the lack of shirt and the tears that are steadily making their way down his face, dripping from the tip of his nose, but he can’t bring himself to care anymore. “This isn’t about suits,” she says, soft.
“No,” he mumbles, defeated.
