Let it be known that intelligent has never been a word to describe Hinata Shoyo. In fact, if you ask his teammates they would say that the words ‘intelligent’ and ‘Shoyo’ have never been in the same damn sentence.
So he shouldn’t be surprised that one random Tuesday in his last semester of his freshman year of college, Hinata found out he was a huge idiot.
In other words he was totally and royally fucked.

Summary
Nobody in that gym that day could tell you what pro volleyball players Shoyo Hinata and Tobio Kageyama said to each other on that bench. Hinata couldn't tell you why he punched Kageyama, and Kageyama couldn't tell you why he said what he said during the most important game of their career. When that incident single handedly destroys one player's career and the other's relationship with him, neither are seen talking to each other for ten years. So, what happens when those ten years pass and a boy who looks strangely like the setter's former partner shows up at a volleyball clinic he's holding?

A big fight accidently forces one to quit and the other into early retirement soon after. Years later after a child appears looking like Kageyama's former partner, new problems arise as the unresolved tension (and feelings) finally see the light of day again

"You’ve scarred him for life, ‘Tsumu!" Bokuto roared.
"I guess I did!" Miya gasped, voice breathless. "I’ve ruined you, haven’t I, Sho-kun?"
"You sure did!" Bokuto bellowed, pounding the steering wheel, tears streaming down his face.
Hinata’s laughter rose, then fell, his chest heaving as the car sped down the rural roads, the glittering house shrinking behind them. But as the car veered back toward civilization, the air grew colder. Hinata’s laughter softened, then died away, the night air sobering him.
He stared out the window, the headlights slicing through the darkness.

It wasn’t Miya who ruined him tonight, but a man whose name he did not know — with eyes he could not forget.
