“I think it might work if we climb-” No, stop- “up the tree-” Why would that work- “just outside, and-” any better than what we’ve already- “drop it! Maybe if-” tried, and what if- “it opens to a page, it’ll-” we damage it? “work better than before!”
No, no, no. That’s a horrible idea.
“Do you have a better one?”--
Vergil has DID and grew up in the underworld following Eva's death. Eva was a witch, and the book Vergil carries around has been passed down through her family for generations and is full of spells and incantations.

“Look, I’m not dying now. You wanna explain what the fuck that was?”
Vergil starts. He looks a bit like a deer caught in headlights before he starts up his pacing again.
“My other thought you were a threat.”
“Your… other.”
“The angel.”
“The… angel?”

“You didn’t have to come with me, you know. I could have taken down the Qliphoth myself,” Vergil says eventually, breaking the silence between them. Dante frowns.
“Yeah, and let you dig up some other old enemy of Dad’s? Or… or, I don’t know, figure out some other way to fuck yourself up again? Nah. Don’t think so.”
Vergil looks at him, finally, displeased. “So this was charity, then?”
Dante returns the look. “No, dumbass, it’s family.”

Summary
A punch connects with your chin and sends you stumbling backwards into hard, metal garbage cans. You're going to lose this fight, you're already seeing stars, already dizzy. You think that one might have knocked a tooth loose- at the very least, it jarred you more than enough to leave you reeling. You think some people would give up, at this point, put their hands up and surrender to a much bigger, much stronger opponent. Not you, though. You're about the worst person to be doing this too, scrawny and sickly, wheezing as you try to catch your breath. You're really no match for this guy you've found yourself trading blows with in a grimy alley, but when has that every stopped you?

“Did you get your tapes?”
Dean shoots you a smile in the dark. “You think I’d come all the way out here without my tapes? Glove box, take your pick.”

“I really, really don’t need to know who you like to have sex with.”
“Someone has to know, I can’t just keep this to myself, I have-” you hiccup, “I have, so much, I have so much information, I know so much a-”
“Tom,” he whines, and you break into a fit of giggles.

“Here you are, four hundred years later, sitting in a fake car with your half-alien girlfriend, halfway across the galaxy, and all you want to tell me about is some ancient hunk of junk that doesn’t even exist anymore,” she jokes, voice gentle. You smile, drop your gaze from the sky to her. She’s smiling, shoulders relaxed, and you like the way she looks in the artificial starlight. “Sometimes I remember why I love you.”

“I know this is pretty trashy, but I think if I drank it out of the bottle, that’d be grounds to call me an alcoholic,” you say, popping the cork out of the bottle and emptying some of it into your mug.
“Funny, I thought we were already doing that,” she replies, voice crackling over your shitty internet connection.

***discontinued***
You pick up, lean against the counter. The clock on your wall says it’s 8 pm. You scrub your face with your hands.
“Hey, Nancy,” you get out. You know it’s her on the other end of the phone because it’s always her. You’re a little taken aback by how tired you sound.
“Hi,” she responds, her voice grounding you through the crackle of the phone line. She asks you if you’ve eaten today and you tell her you don’t know.

“What are you thinking about?” you ask eventually. She starts a little, looks up at you with wide eyes for a moment before relaxing.
“Just… Everything, I guess,” she says, looking back down, this time at her mug.
You set your chin on your hand. “Everything?”

Summary
There’s a lull in activity, eventually, ship clicking along slowly at half impulse, navigation in the hands of (hopefully) someone who’s awake enough to fly the ship, so you take a seat on the floor in front of the warp engine, just in case it decides to act up on you.
Of course, you’re tired. You worry over the engine, and you worry over the rest of the ship, and the crew, and… and you worry over Malcolm in particular, sitting up on the bridge. You guess they probably haven’t gotten much sleep up there either…
Something explodes, Archer comms down to Engineering with barely masked panic in his voice, and this is how you spend most of the next day.

Summary
“That time already?” you ask. You think you sound disappointed. He gives you a smile that doesn’t reach his eyes. None of his smiles ever reach his eyes though, and you’re sure at least some of them are genuine. You think the strangeness of the expression has more to do with you than it does with him. Still, you’re not sure how to interpret it.
“I’m afraid it’s been ‘that time’ for twenty minutes, dear Doctor.” His voice is easy on your ears in a way you still aren’t completely used to. You want him to continue talking, but he doesn’t. Sheepishly, you grin.
“Dinner?”
