“How did you figure out that you weren’t a boy? Or a girl?”
Megumi opens their mouth, then snaps it shut again. They shake their head slightly. “It felt right. There wasn’t really anything else to it.”
“Really?” Maki questions. “You just…woke up one day and decided you weren’t a boy anymore?”
“Pretty much.”
Is that really all there is to it? Maki can just…declare that she isn’t a girl? Will other people even listen? She knows her family would laugh in her face, which is why she figured she’d have to draw up some defense for herself. Maybe write a paper detailing her life experiences and why she thinks there’s a possible chance she may not entirely identify with being female.
“And everyone’s okay with it?”
“No,” Megumi admits. “But the people I care about are, and that’s what matters.”

Summary
[Time passes oddly. Between one second and the next, Sokka has the Fire Lord pinned to the wall with his hands around the bastard’s throat. Golden eyes (one gold eye, his mind whispers) widen in shock.
“Sokka?” he chokes out. And then he smiles.
What the fuck?
“Sokka, I—”
Sokka slams his head against the wall, once, twice, and the smile wipes off his face. Good.
“What,” Sokka bites out, “have you done to my sister?”]

An injury leaves Sokka with amnesia. His last memory is of the failed invasion, of leaving his father behind in enemy territory on the Day of Black Sun. Of hopelessness. Rage.
But then he wakes up, and the war is over. Suddenly, he must come to terms with the fact that years have passed, and that he's somehow the Southern Water Tribe Ambassador to the Fire Nation. He is also supposedly friends with banished-Prince-turned-Fire-Lord Zuko, of all people. Close friends.

Summary
Gojo Satoru has a problem with obeying authority. He always has. Even when his clan elders ask him to attend omiai meetings, even when it’s an order.
So when he encounters a Special Grade curse that manages to inflict its powers upon him, Satoru finds it excruciating that throughout the year that follows it — unbeknownst to anyone else — he is forced to obey the commands of the person closest to him.
(Or: Satoru and Suguru’s relationship in their second and third years, after the events of Caesura.)
