But now the buzzing in his belly isn't due to nerves or nausea - it's an eclosion of split cocoons and butterflies wings, the anticipation of what's to come and the disbelief that these things, these once impossible things, rest in his arms right here, right now: white noise, that makes the tips of his fingers numb where they gently twirl scarlet locks; fireworks, that makes his forearm buzz as a blockade of sleep-warm freckles pins it to the mattress.
Promises made and kept and yet to be fulfilled; a harried past and a hesitant present and a hopeful future.
Maybe it's okay, Katsuki thinks, to put a temporary pin in his routine if it means letting himself succumb to a bliss he's been staving off since that chimerical February evening.
Maybe it's okay, Katsuki realises, for the early bird to miss the worm if it means he can enjoy this thing he yearned for long before he was brave enough to give it a name.

“Wait,” Izuku blurts out, pulling at Katsuki’s hand until he's practically splayed across the booth, “me!?”

The sigh that follows this time is more satisfied than exasperated. “Fuckin’ thank you,” Katsuki grumbles, pulling him closer just as Izuku's arm nudges against his own.
Wallowing in the warmth of their shared embrace, Shoto finally feels himself begin to drift away.

Summary
The bliss that usually comes hand in hand with silence only lasts a second before Katsuki taps along the edge of the communicator and lets himself sigh down the line. “If you’re calling me before I’m even out the door this shit had better be important.”
“Good morning!” Chirped immediately into his ear with the enthusiasm of a blackbird the moment stars blink away from midnight skies, Katsuki winces when it brings with it a very specific ring of tinnitus and makes his stomach swoop. “I knew you’d have your costume on at this time, I think I know you better than the back of my hand.”
“Deku.”
”Oh.”
A quick pause is all it takes for the uncertainty in Izuku’s voice to make Katsuki cease his movements, gauntlet in hand.
“I didn’t realise this would make your character regress, Kacchan. Do you wanna be back at 15 that bad?”
And a teasing tone is all it takes to wish the man was there so he could throw it in his goddamn face.

Summary
Ochako is a hero-in-training. She’s a UA student. She has a provisional hero license. She should not have sympathy for a villain.
But her sympathy is the only reason Himiko is alive at all—she already made her choice, and that choice was to save Himiko even at the risk of her own livelihood. It was a choice she swore she would make over and over again, going out of her way to leave vials of her blood for Himiko as she promised and waving aside questions of her whereabouts on her weekly trips to do so. She chooses Himiko over herself every day already.
She can’t lose her. It’s as simple as that, really.
Just as heroes don’t have anyone to save them, neither do villains. Ochako wants to be the sort of person who saves those no one else can—those no one else will. Full stop.
“Okay,” she agrees. “Fine. You can stay.”
